Orton hears healers
By JANE STEVENSON
British singer-songwriter Beth Orton also has an anticipated new record in stores next Tuesday with Daybreaker. Highlights include two vocal appearances by Ryan Adams on the first single Concrete Sky -- co-written by Johnny Marr (The Smiths) -- and God Song. Adams also offered up his own tune, O.K. for Orton to perform.

"To work with him -- it was just liberation," Orton told The Sun when she was in town last month. "It's like I am torn because I, think in a way, these records (Daybreaker, Central Reservation, Trailer Park) are like a trilogy, the first one, the second one, and the third one, and it's kind of, 'I've done it now.' But I have to say though, when I meet someone like Ryan, and I work like that, or Johnny Marr, the sensation is really exciting and it really just like lights my f---ing world up."

As for Marr's new band The Healers, Orton describes the sound as: "Electric guitars. It's like maybe a mix between Electronica and Oasis."
