OLP, Chantal War Child benefit confirmed
By JAM! Music
Winnipeg will be the scene of a major benefit concert for the War Child charity, featuring Chantal Kreviazuk and Our Lady Peace.

The concert will be held Sept. 8 at the junction of the Red and Assiniboine rivers in an area known locally as The Forks. The region was the scene last year of a similar War Child benefit show featuring The Tragically Hip. That event attracted an estimated audience of 80,000.

"We are honoured to be involved with the War Child Canada concert in Winnipeg," OLP singer Raine Maida said in a press release.

"War Child Canada is truly an amazing organization run by extraordinary people. Their intentions are pure and we are proud to be playing the concert," added Maida, who is married to Kreviazuk.

The couple travelled to the Middle East this year as part of a War Child Canada mission. Last year's concert raised $160,000 for the charity.

Other artists will be added to the bill at a later date. More information about the charity and the concert can be found at www.warchild.ca.
