"I'll probably drag my husband out onstage to do some of my stuff," Kreviazuk said yesterday. "That way people will actually come out during my set."
Speaking from Ventura County, Calif., where she and Maida are writing, recording and "basically hanging out" at a beach house, Kreviazuk said she's thrilled to be playing the War Child show for the second year and she's happy Maida's band will be the concert's big draw.
"(War Child) is something that I'm really serious about," she said. "I'm involved in it for the long haul."
Last winter, Maida and Kreviazuk accompanied War Child director Dr. Samantha Nutt to a hospital revitalization project in Iraq, loaning their profiles to raise awareness of the organization's work. This year, she says she and Maida may make a similar trip to Sudan.
"It's a privilege to talk about the opportunities we in this society have to help others," she said.
As well as Our Lady Peace and Kreviazuk, Nutt confirmed yesterday that Saturday's concert will feature Congolese performer Kibwe, Calgary twins Tegan and Sara and Winnipeg acts Four Corners and Tequila Mockingbird.
The show begins at noon and will likely end at 7 p.m., Nutt said. Set times have yet to be determined. Last year's concert featuring The Tragically Hip drew a reported 80,000 people to The Forks, raising $160,000 for War Child Canada.
