PARIS HILTON

Katy Perry promises concert surprise
By JANE STEVENSON - Sun Media

Katy Perry says her Molson Amphitheatre show on Sunday night is one of a few select stops she chose to test her mettle in a larger arena -- so expect the stage production to be slightly different than her previous club shows.

Perry played Kool Haus in March.

"Instead of blown-up fruits and things like that, I have these larger-than-life pink flamingos made and we have an amazing heart-shaped light fixture behind me," Perry said.

"You know I'm about to make a new record and I have a whole vision for the next tour which will be hopefully even larger than life, even more in cartoon."

As for the oversized inflatable head of her beloved cat, Kitty Purry, which made it onto the Kool Haus stage, Perry wasn't sure if she would turn up at the Amphitheatre this weekend.

"She comes out sometimes during the encore to say hello and say how much she enjoyed everyone. And she usually likes to share her mouse that she found in the alley with the audience," Perry said.

And, no, Perry isn't talking about the real Kitty Purry.

"It would be too upsetting for her to be at every different show. She can't handle it. She actually can't even cross the border. The Canadian patrol will not let her.

"She's just had too many DUIs."

PERRY'S PASSION

Katy Perry is known as much for her fashion sense -- she favours the colourful and the vintage -- as her music.

For instance, during the Grammys, she descended from the ceiling in a carved-out banana into a bowl of fruit-wearing dancers.

"I mean this is one of my favourite things to do is come up with these amazing outfits," she said.

On her current tour, which stops at the Molson Amphitheatre this weekend, she's got some new ideas.

"One of my best friends who I've worked with before anything, who I used to sell clothes with, we came up with this great idea for the next few shows, hopefully, I'll be wearing it in Toronto.

"This idea that I was going to make this crystal bra, basically like Selena, the Latina singer she used to wear these bustiers. So I'm making this bustier, there's like crystals all over it, and then around the boobies is the velcro.

"And I've had these different fruits made, like slices of oranges or strawberries or slices of watermelons, and they're all crystalized. And I'm just going to switch them out every single night. So keep the same bustier but switch the fruit on the boobs."
