Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will have their Mojo working overtime this summer.
The 59-year-old heartland rocker is heading into the great wide open once again on a North American tour in support of his forthcoming 12th studio CD Mojo.
Petty's tour kicks off May 6 and winds up at the end of August, stopping in five Canadian cities along the way (see below). British blues-rocker Joe Cocker will open most of the Canadian shows, though CSN will support him in Toronto.
Tickets for many of the shows go on sale Monday, March 8, according to Petty's website, www.tompetty.com. Online buyers will receive download codes for two tracks from Mojo — Petty and the Heartbreakers' first disc in eight years — and will get an MP3 download of the entire album when it is released in spring. In the fall, they'll also get eight tunes recorded during the tour. Members of Petty's Highway Companions Club will get an additional six tracks from the shows. The new studio cut Good Enough is already streaming on Petty's website.
