Pink shot her screen test last year and her vocals were so similar to Joplin's that it was decided that she would sing live in the film. A soundtrack deal is also in the works.

The project's director, Penelope Spheeris has been attempting to make a movie of Joplin's life for fifteen years and she is thrilled to have Pink on board.

A second Joplin biopic titled "Piece of My Heart," starring Renee Zellweger, is also in development.

Pink's film is expected to start shooting this summer.
