Album Review: Pink Floyd

IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE?
By MIKE ROSS

IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE?
Pink Floyd
(Sony)

It's hot new Pink Floyd - double live! Further words are unnecessary, but, like the band itself, we must fill space.

Recorded during the 1980-81 The Wall tour and containing tracks never heard on any recording, this two-CD set swoops and soars to mystical heights undreamed of by many so-called "down to earth" rock bands.

Dig the raw energy of tracks like Run Like Hell, trip out on haunting highlights like Goodbye Blue Sky. Close your eyes and take it all in, man. It's glorious bombast. All that's missing is that big inflatable pig.

The live sound takes some getting used to - the versions aren't exactly like the originals, but they're close - and as with all Pink Floyd records, a little buzz makes it sound better.
