Artist: Rush

Rush to release covers collection
By JAM! Music

Canadian rock legends Rush are celebrating their 30th anniversary by releasing a collection of cover tunes, their label Anthem Records announced today.

The eight-track effort, called "Feedback," will see Rush tackle songs made popular by the Who, Cream, Buffalo Springfield and the Yardbirds.

"Bassist Geddy (Lee), guitarist Alex (Lifeson), and I were channeling back to 1966 and 1967, when we were 13- and 14-year-old beginners," writes drummer Neil Peart in the liner notes to "Feedback."

"We thought it would be a fitting symbol to commemorate our thirty years together if we returned to our roots and paid tribute to those we had learned from and were inspired by."

The album, which will be in stores on June 29, marks the first time the trio has recorded tracks by other artists.

Rush's 30th anniversary tour makes two Canadian stops -- the first at Montreal's Bell Centre on August 21, and Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre on August 22.

Here's the full track list for "Feedback":

"Summertime Blues" (Eddie Cochran/covered by Blue Cheer)

"Heart Full of Soul" (Yardbirds)

"The Seeker" (The Who)

"For What It's Worth" (Buffalo Springfield)

"Shapes of Things" (Yardbirds)

"Mr. Soul" (Buffalo Springfield)

"Crossroads" (Robert Johnson/covered by Cream)

"Seven and Seven Is" (Love)
