By , QMI Agency

Rush

Toronto veteran progressive rock trio Rush lead the 2010 Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame inductees.

The group, made up of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart, will join fellow inductee Robert Charlebois at the March 28 sixth annual gala at the Toronto Centre For The Arts' George Weston Recital Hall.

In total 11 songwriters, 16 songs - including the Rush classics Tom Sawyer, Limelight, The Spirit of Radio, Subdivisions and Closer to the Heart - and two Legacy Award recipients will be inducted.

Among the six classic Canadian songs being inducted this year are The Hockey Theme by Dolores Claman.

The Frank Davies Legacy Award, named after the founder of the CSHF, will be given to recorded-sound archivist Edward B. Moogk. The Canadian Music Publishers Association Legacy award will be given to Quebec impresario, producer and agent Guy Latraverse.

It was also announced at a Tuesday morning press conference that the CSHF and the Toronto Centre for the Arts have established a partnership that will present regular music programming, on-going educational initiatives and create a permanent 'bricks & mortar' home for the Hall of Fame located at the TCA.

The programming will include the If You Could Read My Mind series, the first of which is a previously announced Feb. 4 concert by Gordon Lightfoot and The Tragically Hip's Gord Downie.

The full line-up of performers for the 6th Annual Gala will be announced in the coming weeks and tix, starting at $110, are available now through Ticketmaster at 416-870-8000 or on-line at ticketmaster.ca, cansong.ca, tocentre.com or in person at the TCA box office.
