Nothing like a health scare to awaken the songwriting muse.

Or so acclaimed Toronto singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith found out after he discovered a lump in his throat during his 2011 tour for his last album, leading up to this week's release of his latest studio effort, 2013's Forever Endeavour.

Thankfully, it turned out to be benign tumour after an initial ultrasound, MRI and eventual CAT scan three months later.

"I had this period of walking around in a fog wondering if this was something serious," said Sexsmith, 49, during an interview before his Canadian tour in support of Forever Endeavour starts in March.
