Jessica Simpson to make film debut
By

Singer and reality TV star Jessica Simpson is set to make her big screen debut in the baseball biopic "Walk On," Variety reports.

The film, directed by Walter Hill ("48 Hrs.") is based on the true story of the Texas Rangers franchise, which was nearly bankrupt in 1973, but was saved by 18-year-old rookie player David Clyde.

Simpson will play Clyde's wife, while veteran actor Keith Carradine and singer Sophie B. Hawkins are also in talks to join the cast.

Production on "Walk On" is scheduled to begin next year in New Mexico and Texas.

Simpson stars with her husband Nick Lachey in the reality show "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica."
