Jessica Simpson reportedly nixed a chance to win an Oscar due to her dad's insistance that she keep her clothes on, People reports.

Simpson's manager father said his daughter was offered the role of a porn star in an upcoming film, and was told the movie had serious Oscar potential.

The 49-year-old said: "The last script that came to us was for Jessica to be a porn star.

"We were promised we would win an Oscar with that.

"I told them, 'I think we'll just buy a statue of a little man and keep our clothes on'."
