Snoop Dogg chewed his way up the Canadian album charts this week.
His new album "Ego Trippin'" debuted at No. 3, selling close to 5,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan data.
It marks his most successful chart placement since "Tha Doggfather," which peaked at No. 2 in 1996.
However, Snoop couldn't beat out Jack Johnson's "Sleeping Through the Static" (9,000) which remained at No. 1, and Isabelle Boulay's "Nos Lendemains" (over 5,000), which held on at No. 2.
Simple Plan's self-titled disc and the "Step Up 2: The Streets" soundtrack both stayed at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, and the music from "Hannah Montana 2" moved from No. 14 to No. 6.
Rounding out the top 10 was Alan Jackson's "Good Times" at No. 7, Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black" at No. 8, Sarah Slean's "Baroness" at No. 9, and the "Juno" soundtrack at No. 10.
In the U.S., rapper Rick Ross's "Trilla" hit No. 1, followed by "NOW 27" in second, Snoop Dogg in third, Jack Johnson in fourth, and Alan Jackson in fifth.
