The Fray battle the Boss for No. 1
By John Williams – CANOE.CA

The Fray had an impressive debut, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Boss from ruling the Canadian album charts once again.

The Denver-based band’s self-titled sophomore effort came in at No. 2 with 8,200 in sales, with Bruce Springsteen’s “Working On A Dream” staying at No. 1, racking up 10,200 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan data.

“Working On A Dream” has now sold 30,000 since being release two weeks ago.

Nickelback’s “Dark Horse” (7,300) and Lady GaGa’s “The Fame” remained at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, while the “2009 Grammy Nominees” compilation ballooned two spots to No. 5.

After 39 weeks on the charts, Jason Mraz’s “We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things” made its top 10 debut at No. 6, Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” dropped two to No. 7, and the Kings of Leon’s “Only By The Night” held on tight to No. 8.

At the bottom end, Beyonce’s “I Am…Sasha Fierce” stayed at No. 9, and Franz Ferdinand’s “Tonight: Franz Ferdinand” sank 8 positions to No. 10.

In the U.S., the Fray came in on top, followed by Bruce Springsteen in second, Dierks Bentley’s “Feel that Fire” in third, Taylor Swift in fourth, and Beyonce in fifth.
