Sibling revelry with Static in Stereo

You can't keep a good band down - whatever they decide to call themselves.

Canadian rock historians will remember that Age of Electric started as two sets of brothers, the Dahles and the Kernses. The Dahles split to form Limblifter, leaving the Kernses with the ashes of Age of Electric. There were some side projects in there, too. Someday someone will draw one of those rock 'n' roll genealogy charts tracing them all. Won't that be fun.

(Historians may also remember Age of Electric back in the '80s. At that time, one of the band members had a chain connecting his pierced nipple with his pierced nose, and two of the guys whipped their heads around to spin heavy metal hair in unison to the throbbing beat. Big rock!)

So ANYWAY, enter the brand spankin' new Static in Stereo, which contains not two, but three, Kerns brothers: Todd, John II and Ryan. The band's self-titled debut isn't out until May 29, but they sent samplers to the press. It's not bad - semi-sorta-hard rock with a catchy pop sensibility and sure-fire hit potential. In other words, it sounds like Age of Electric! Welcome back, boys.
