Stewart's 'Songbook' stays at No. 1

The British singer's "Stardust... The Great American Songbook: Volume III" remained on top of Canadian album charts for a third consecutive week with sales of 15,300, according to data compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. "Stardust" beat out new entries from two French artists -- Eric Lapointe's "Coupable" (15,100) landed at No. 2, and Boom Desjardin's self-titled album (11,300) debuted at No. 3. Simple Plan's sophomore effort "Still Not Getting Any..." dropped from No. 2 to No. 4, A Perfect Circle's "Emotive" premiered at No. 5, and Hilary Duff self-titled effort spent its sixth week at No. 6. Green Day's "American Idiot" remained at No. 7, Celine Dion's "Miracle" dropped four spots to No. 8, Usher's "Confessions" sank three to No. 9, and Mario Pelchat's holiday album "Noel Avec Jireh" entered the top 10 at No. 10. Other notable debuts included John Lennon's "Acoustic" at No. 66 and The Rolling Stones' "Live Licks" at No. 80. In the U.S., the compilation "Now 17" debuted at No. 1, followed by A Perfect Circle in second, Nelly's "Suit" in third, Usher in fourth, and Rod Stewart in fifth. |
