With the amount of chart success that Rod Stewart is having covering other artists' songs, he may not go back to singing his own tunes.
Stewart's fifth all-covers disc, "Still the Same... Great Rock Classics of Our Time," entered the Canadian album charts at No. 1 on sales of over 21,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan data.
It marks his third No. 1 album here in four years -- his last covers album, "Stardust... The Great American Songbook: Volume III," came in on top (20,000) back in October of 2004.
Stewart also grabbed the No. 1 spot south of the border, selling 184,000 copies of "Still the Same..." in the U.S., according to Billboard.com.
Back in Canada, Evanescence's "The Open Door" spent a second straight week at No. 2, the Killers' "Sam's Town" was bumped out of the No. 1 position down to No. 3, and Tony Bennett's "Duets: An American Classic" slipped one notch to No. 4.
K-os' "Atlantis: Hymns For Disco" and Lloyd Banks' "Rotten Apples" premiered at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, and Justin Timberlake's ""FutureSex/LoveSounds" dropped three rungs to No. 7.
Diana Krall's "From This Moment On" sank three to No. 8, James Blunt's "Back To Bedlam" fell two to No. 9, and Jonas' "Suite Life" closed out the Top 10 debuts at No. 10.
In the U.S., Evanescence slipped to No. 2, followed by Lloyd Banks in third, Jimmy Buffett's "Take the Weather With You" in fourth, and Tony Bennett in fifth.
