Rod Stewart returns to JLC
Rock legend Rod Stewart returns to the JLC tonight in support of his latest hit CD

Two things appear certain about Rod Stewart's return to the John Labatt Centre, where he will be "rockin' in the round" tonight.

The British rocker will be a little more than three years older than his first visit in March 2004 -- and some of the songs will be three or four or five decades younger.

When the London, England-born rocker played here twice in 2004, he was touring to support his Great American Songbook albums. Those were filled with his take on Broadway and pop evergreens, many from the 1920s and 1930s.

Tonight, he will pop up in the middle of the round stage format on his London stop to support Still The Same . . . Great Rock Classics of Our Time, his latest hit CD. Stewart's list of "great rock classics" includes nods to Bob Dylan (If Not For You), Van Morrison (Crazy Love), Bob Seger (Still the Same) and John Fogerty (Have You Ever Seen the Rain?).

After being a voice with British rock legends such as Long John Baldry, Mick Fleetwood and the Jeff Beck Group, he became a member of the Faces in 1970. Stewart began releasing solo efforts of his own, of which 1971's Every Picture Tells a Story marked his breakthrough. Maggie May, originally a B-side, sent the single and album to No. 1 in the U.S. and Britain simultaneously -- billed as a chart first. His other hits include Do Ya Think I'm Sexy, Tonight's the Night, You're In My Heart and The First Cut is the Deepest. Stewart is one of the top grossing musical artists in the world, say both Forbes and Rolling Stone.
