Fresh out of court-ordered rehab, Stone Temple Pilots' vocalist Scott Weiland says the band is going back into the studio and gearing up for their first tour in more than three years.
At MTV's recent Rock The Vote party, Weiland told reporters the band is recording new music for summer movie soundtracks, according to the online music site Addicted To Noise.
"We're going to be doing some soundtrack recordings for a few films that are coming out this summer," Weiland said. Although no movies were specified, the group has reportedly been approached by the producers of the upcoming "Mission: Impossible 2" to provide music for the film.
Stone Temple Pilots are also planning to begin performing live in April, with an eye to headlining radio festivals this summer, before heading overseas, ATN said.
The group hasn't toured since 1996's "Tiny Music ... Songs From The Vatican Giftshop." Weiland ended up behind bars after violating probation related to a 1998 heroin charge.
