STP recording, plan DVD
By PAUL CANTIN

With the reinvigorated Stone Temple Pilots back on track following the release of jailed singer Scott Weiland, the group is now planning a DVD of videos and concert footage to accompany a greatest hits album fto be released before the end of the year.

Band manager Steve Stewart confirmed the retrospective packages will include some previously unreleased material when they arrives in record stores in late October or early November.

The Pilots' DVD will contain "some video and some live footage, mostly live footage," he said.

"(The album) is basically a collection of their greatest hits. There will probably be two or three new tracks," Stewart told JAM! via telephone from his Los Angeles office on Monday.

"One of them will be a song they will be recording soon. A couple of them may be things they didn't use off previous albums."

Singer Scott Weiland told MTV the collection will be called "Big Bang Babies," and identified new songs already earmarked for the package as "Heed The Water Whisper" and "You Can't Drive Me Away."

Stewart also said guitarist Robert DeLeo has been writing songs with Ozzy Osbourne.

"He went down to the studio with him. I don't know what has come of it, but I do know he went down to the studio with him."

STP begins their co-headlining tour with Red Hot Chili Peppers on July 30. The double-bill arrives in Canada for shows at Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre on Aug. 16, Quebec City's Colisee Pepsi on Aug. 18, and Montreal's Molson Centre on Aug. 19.
