MERRY CHRISTMAS WHEREVER YOU ARE
George Strait
(MCA)
George Strait, meanwhile, has a new disc, half oldies, half abominable new tracks, written with that obvious not-so new country lyrical style that mirrors the scripting on the weaker episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation. "Geordi, is it true humans have feelings?"
"Why yes, Data, they sure do. And they sometimes share them." And so on. So let's ignore the new garbage and just say that Strait has a great, if innocuous, voice and his compositions are generally jazzy and have just the right amount of twang.
Jingle Bell Rock and Mel Torme's The Christmas Song are the highlights.
The title track is nice, too.
