Country-pop star Taylor Swift had a sensational debut on the album charts this week.

The 20-year-old's third studio effort, "Speak Now," blasted to No. 1, selling a whopping 62,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan data.

It easily surpassed the first week sales of her mega-popular second disc "Fearless," which rang up 27,000 in November 2008.

Eminem still holds the Canadian high-water mark this year with "Recovery," which sold 85,000 when it premiered in June.

Even more impressive was Swift's debut stateside, where she sold 1,047,000, making it the largest first-week tally in the U.S. since 50 Cent's "The Massacre" (1,141,000) in March of 2005, according to Billboard.com.

Swift just missed the all-time record for the best first week by a female artist, held by Britney Spears for her 2000 album "Oops...I Did It Again," which sold 1,310,000.

Back here, Sylvain Cossette's "70s Volume 3" checked in at No. 2 (13,000), Kings of Leon's "Come Around Sundown", No. 1 last week, slipped to No. 3, and Michael Buble's "Crazy Love" shot up 67 positions to No. 4.

Eminem's "Recovery" held steady at No. 5, likewise with Roch Voisine's "Americana" at No. 6, and Rod Stewart's "Fly Me to the Moon" dropped three levels to No. 7.

Closing out the top 10 was Johnny Reid's "Place Called Love" at No. 8, Sugarland's "Incredible Machine" at No. 9, and the "Glee: The Rocky Horror Glee Show" soundtrack at No. 10.
