Toronto-based rockers Three Days Grace made an impressive debut on the Canadian album charts this week, but it wasn't enough to beat out the Dixie Chicks.
The band's sophomore disc, "One-X," checked in at No. 2 with sales of just under 19,000, according to figures compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. It came in slightly behind the Chicks' "Taking the Long Way" (20,000), which retained the No. 1 spot for a fourth consecutive week.
TDG's "One-X" surpasses the debut of their self-titled first studio disc, which premiered at No. 9 in July of '03, selling 5,000 copies.
The foursome also managed to grab the No. 5 spot south of the border, selling 78,000 copies of "One-X" in the U.S, according to Billboard.com.
Back in Canada, Shakira's "Oral Fixation Vol. 2" and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Stadium Arcadium" both held onto the No. 3 and No. 4 positions, respectively.
AFI's "Decemberunderground" stumbled in its second week, falling from No. 2 to No. 5, while Busta Rhymes' "The Big Bang" had the second best debut of the week at No. 6.
James Blunt's "Back to Bedlam" and Rihanna's "Girl Like Me" both slipped two notches to No. 7 and No. 8, Gnarls Barkley's "St. Elsewhere" occupied the No. 9 slot, and Michael Buble's "It's Time" sank three rungs to No. 10.
Other notable debuts included Matt Dusk's "Back in Town" at No. 17, Seether's "One Cold Night" at No. 31, and the compilation "Reggae 2006" at No. 35.
In the U.S., Busta Rhymes came in at No. 1 (209,000), followed by the Dixie Chicks in second, AFI in third, and Disney's "High School Musical" in fourth.
