Shania sets Cdn. chart record
By JOHN WILLIAMS -- JAM! Showbiz

Shania Twain has found herself in the Canadian record books.

Twain's "Up!" held the No. 1 spot on the Canadian album charts for the 11th consecutive week, breaking the record for the longest run on top in Canadian Nielsen SoundScan history.

This achievement was previously marked by the 1998 compilation "Now! 3," and Eminem's 2000 album, "The Marshall Mathers LP." Twain's "Up!" has now racked up over 646,000 in Canadian sales since its release on November 19.

Avril Lavigne's "Let Go" (10,500) placed second this week and Norah Jones' "Come Away With Me" (7,900) held onto third.

Meanwhile, it wasn't a smashing debut, but Billy Corgan's new band Zwan still managed to shake up the charts.

Zwan's "Mary Star of the Sea" entered in at No. 4 on sales of 7,600, and marked the first new album in two months to debut in the Canadian top 10, according to data compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.

The band also made a splash in the U.S., premiering in third, and racking up sales of 90,000.

The soundtrack to the hit musical "Chicago" (6,200) moved up from eighth spot to fifth, "MuchDance 2003" (6,000) fell from fourth to sixth, and the Dixie Chicks' "Home" (5,800) rose two positions to seventh.

Jennifer Lopez's "This Is Me... Then" (5,600) dropped two spots to eighth, "Big Shiny '90s" (5,400) sank from fifth to ninth, and Eminem's "8 Mile" (4,900) soundtrack rounded out the top 10.

The only other debut in the top 100 was Yanni's "Ultimate Yanni," which checked in at No. 96.

In the U.S., The Dixie Chicks rocketed back into the top spot, bumping Norah Jones down to second. Avril Lavigne placed fourth, and J. Lo closed out the top five.

Here are the 10 best-selling albums in Canada, according to Nielsen SoundScan:
