 Shania Twain's "Greatest Hits" stays at No. 1 in Canada. |
Shania Twain kept a firm grip on the Canadian charts this week, holding Irish rockers U2 well back at No. 2 for the second week in a row.
Buoyed by increased holiday sales, Twain's "Greatest Hits" compilation sold 61,700 copies to remain at No. 1, up from 56,100 last week.
Meanwhile, sales of U2's "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" continued to drop, down to 40,300 from last week's 47,200, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The holiday season was also good to Green Day. Sales of "American Idiot" topped 26,600 this week, enough to push the punk rockers up four spots to No. 4 and giving "American Idiot" triple platinum status in Canada after 12 weeks on the charts.
Sales of Eminem's "Encore" also increased slightly, but not enough to move him up from the No. 3 position.
Rod Stewart's golden oldies disc "Stardust... Great American Songbook: Volume III" and MuchMusic's "Big Shiny Tunes 9" also saw sales boosts, landing Stewart at No. 8 and "Big Shiny Tunes" at No. 10.

"MuchDance 2005" and Hilary Duff's self-titled disc both held at No. 5 and No. 7, respectively, while "Canadian Idol" winner Kalan Porter's debut "219 Days" dropped down two notches to No. 6.
The only new album to crack the top ten this week was teen actress Lindsay Lohan's singing debut "Speak," sneaking into the top ten at No. 9. Other notable debuts this week included Ludacris' second album "Red Light District" at No. 22 and Josh Groban at No. 46.
On the U.S. charts, Ludacris debuted at No. 1, followed by U2 in second, Eminem in third, Lindsay Lohan in fourth, and the 17th installment of "NOW That's What I Call Music!" in fifth.
