TORONTO — Lovestruck Ottawa Dr. John Palumbo pleaded guilty Friday to criminally harassing country superstar Shania Twain at the Juno Awards here in March.
The 51-year-old doctor pleaded guilty after Twain concluded her testimony, which left no doubt she wasn't interested in the love-struck stalker.
Palumbo was sent to Royal Ottawa Hospital for a psychiatric assessment and will be back in a Toronto courtroom on Oct. 18 for sentencing.
"He realizes she doesn't want any attention from him and now he can never say I didn't know that," his lawyer Gary Barnes told reporters afterwards.
Palumbo also pleaded guilty to breaching a court order by attending the Junos at the Air Canada Centre.
