U2 got on their boots and took care of business, debuting at the top of the charts once again with their 12th studio album “No Line on the Horizon.”
The Irish quartet’s latest effort shot up to the No.1 position with sales of 65,000, according to figures compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.
Although “No Line” crushed the competition, its numbers were not as strong as past U2 albums. “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb,” the band's 2004 release, sold over 94,000 and 2000’s “All That You Can’t Leave Behind,” sold over 71,000 its first week.
Holding steady on the charts were Lady GaGa’s “The Fame” (6,000) which climbed up one notch to sit at No.2, Nickelback’s “Dark Horse” (5,700) at No.3, and Jason Mraz’s “We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things”(4,700) which pushed up two spots to No.4.
Indie songstress Neko Case’s “Middle Cyclone” debuted at No.5, while both Kings of Leon’s “Only By the Night” and Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” moved up, ranking in at No. 5 and No.6 respectively.
Rounding out the top ten is the “War Child Presents Heroes” album at No.8, “Slumdog Millionaire” at No.9 and metal band Lamb of God’s “Wrath,” which screamed down to the bottom of the charts after spending last week at No.1.
