Van Halen doesn't rock charts

Veteran rockers Van Halen would have liked the truth of their chart results to be very different this week.

"A Different Kind of Truth," the band's first studio album in 14 years, and first with original singer David Lee Roth since "1984" in 1984, debuted at No. 3 with a paltry 16,000 in sales, according to Nielsen Soundscan.

They also fell way short of the top spot in the U.S., where they landed at No. 2 with sales of 187,000, according to Billboard.com.

Back here, legendary singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen's "Old Ideas" (20,000) came in at No. 2, while British phenom Adele occupied No. 1 once again with another 21,000 albums gobbled up.

Don't expect Adele to budge next week either -- her numbers are projected to rise even higher after she reigned supreme at the Grammys last Sunday, taking home six awards on music's biggest night.

Paul McCartney, who performed twice at the Grammys, had his 16th studio disc "Kisses on the Bottom" land at No. 4, "2012 Grammy Nominees" compilation  slipped another spot to No. 5, and the Fray's "Scars & Stories" premiered at No. 6.

The "NOW! 19" collection, which features hit tracks from Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, landed at No. 7, Lana Del Rey's "Born to Die" fell five levels to No. 8, LMFAO's "Sorry For Party Rocking"  slipped from No. 7 to No. 9, and Gotye's "Making Mirrors" hung on at No. 10.

In the U.S., Adele claimed first again, selling 237,000, "NOW! 41" followed in third, the Fray in fourth, and Macca in fifth.
