SONGS IN RED AND GRAY
By DARRYL STERDAN
SONGS IN RED AND GRAY Suzanne Vega (A / Universal) "How low does one heart go?" wonders Suzanne Vega on Penitent, the aptly titled first song of her sixth album. She spends the next 45 minutes answering her own question as she sifts through the ashes of her failed marriage to superstar producer Mitchell Froom and engages in some musical self-help therapy on 13 self-indulgently sombre, electronic-tinged folk-rock snifflers with titles like (I'll Never Be) Your Maggie May, Solitaire and If I Were a Weapon (steady there, Suzie). Oh, and for the record, the answer to that question? Pretty damned low. (More on: Suzanne Vega). Track Listing
1. Penitent
