Earliest Velvets recording unearthed
The Velvet Underground's debut "banana album" still has a-peel.

The hugely influential 1967 album, which is officially known as "The Velvet Underground & Nico", is to be reissued next month in a two-disc set, with bonus tracks, a special digi-pak re-creation of Andy Warhol's peelable banana cover, bonus tracks, and a previously unreleased number.

3-CD Velvet Underground 'bootleg' on its way
Following in the footsteps of Bob Dylan's "Bootleg Series," The Velvet Underground's illicitly released recordings will begin surfacing legitimately.

Billboard reports the Universal Music Group is commemorating the band's 30th anniversary with the Aug. 28 release of "The Velvet Underground Bootleg Series Volume One: The Quine Tapes."
