Injury forces Oasis to axe show

Noel Gallagher's rib and hip injuries kept Oasis from rocking the John Labatt Centre last night -- so the British band will now be at the downtown London arena on Dec. 15.

U.S. rockers Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, who were to be part of last night's show, will also be at the 7 p.m. rescheduled show.

Gallagher was attacked on-stage by a man at Toronto's Virgin Festival on Sunday.

Yesterday morning's postponement followed a day of buzz on Monday about Gallagher's condition with YouTube videos showing the attack.

Gallagher rested on Monday, the band said on its www.oasisinet.com website, but was still unable to perform last night.

That concert was postponed yesterday morning, a few hours before the rescheduled date was announced.

"Ticket holders are asked to retain their tickets, which will be valid for the new date. Refunds for those unable to attend can be made at point of ticket purchase until Oct.10," the JLC said in its rescheduling announcement.

About 7,000 tickets had been sold for last night's show, the centre said.

Gallagher was pushed from behind and fell onto his monitor speakers, suffering bruising to his ribs and hip on Sunday.

He was examined at a Toronto-area hospital and told to rest.

Daniel Sullivan, 47, of Pickering, has been charged with assault and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 24.

The band's next performance is scheduled for Friday in New York.
