Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher is sounding off in cyberspace about the Toronto Island tackle that forced the British band to cancel a gig.
"Someone who can only be described as a 'Canadian' was able to get onstage, somehow managed to evade our crack security team ... and assaulted my mid-riff," Gallagher wrote yesterday on the band's official website, oasisinet.com.
"Can't say much more than that as the 'perpetrator' (is) gonna get the book thrown at him."
Gallagher, 41, bruised his ribs and hip when he fell hard on a monitor speaker after a man ran onto the stage at the Virgin Festival and pushed him from behind Sunday night. Within seconds, security personnel jumped to restrain the attacker before leading him offstage and away from the victim's enraged brother, Liam.
A multitude of amateur videos captured the attack and quickly posted clips on YouTube.
The incident forced the band to cancel a concert in London, Ont.
Toronto Police charged a 47-year-old Pickering man, Daniel Sullivan, with assault. He was released from custody and is to appear in court next month.
Gallagher wrote that he had a bad feeling something was going to happen that night but that everything had been going well up to that point in the show.
He compared the knock-down to a sparring session with British boxer Ricky Hatton but said there was a silver lining in that the band will probably get an extra couple of days in New York City. They perform there tomorrow.
"Every cloud, eh?" Gallagher wrote.
