Album Review: Roch Voisine

ROCH VOISINE, CHRISTMAS IS CALLING
By JANE STEVENSON

CHRISTMAS IS CALLING
Roch Voisine
(BMG)

I wasn't sure what to expect from this bilingual artist, having never totally dug his slick pop sound. But his low-key, mainly acoustic versions of Silent Night, I'll Be Home For Christmas, O Christmas Tree, Happy Christmas, The Christmas Song, Silver Bells, Blue Christmas and O Holy Night warmed me up. Too bad the over-production on White Christmas and Joy To The World, and saccharine versions of Winter Wonderland, Sleigh Ride and What Child Is This left me cold. This one's for my mom, who will probably love it.

Track Listing 1. The Christmas Song
2. O Christmas Tree
3. Blue Christmas
4. Little Drummer Boy
5. Winter Wonderland
6. Joy to the World
7. Silver Bells
8. What Child is This? (Greensleeves)
9. Christmas is Calling
10.White Christmas
11. Silent Night
12. O Holy Night
13. Sleigh Ride
14. Happy Christmas (War is Over)
15. I'll Be Home for Christmas
