I WILL INTERNALIZE
Wainwright's 'Internalize' a worthy EP
By ALLAN WIGNEY -- Ottawa Sun

Martha Wainwright
I Will Internalize
(MapleMusic)

This is technically the third EP from the daughter of Kate McGarrigle and Loudon Wainwright III. Yet, it's the first to see widespread release, following on the heels of her brilliant self-titled album. Five new songs only a few months after an acclaimed album qualifies Ms Wainwright as prolific, but then she has to work hard to catch up to big brother Rufus' headstart.

The low-key I Will Internalize rarely scales the heights of that full-length CD, but in the artist's defence, those were some pretty vertigo-inducing elevations.

As a companion piece, however, this is a more than worthy EP, presenting sparse arrangements, more gut-wrenching sentiments, a guest vocal from the aforementioned big brother, a smoky jazz-club ode to Wainwright's home town of New York and an extraordinary rendition of Barbara's signature chanson Dis, Quand Reviendras-Tu?

Whenever you're ready, Ms Wainwright, we'll take another, please.
