The name Kurt Weill may not be as synonymous with musical theatre as Andrew Lloyd Webber or Rodgers & Hammerstein, but to true fans of the genre, he was one of its brightest and most creative stars.
"It's less McDonald's and more fine dining," says Stephen Woodjetts in a smirking tone, explaining the difference between Weill's complex and angular compositions and Webber's mainstream melodrama.
