Album Review: Who, The

BBC SESSIONS
By MIKE ROSS

BBC SESSIONS
The Who
(Hollywood Records)

The Who was supposed to be one of the greatest rock bands in Britain - too bad you wouldn't know it from this. The latest in a seemingly endless series of archeological digs into the vast, musty BBC archives has unearthed a low-fidelity platter of unreleased tracks, misguided covers and botched takes from Pete & Co. Unpolished gems sit next to unpolished lumps of dirt. My Generation and The Seeker are inspired, if rather rough, while a version of Dancing In the Street is embarrassingly bad. This is for true fans only.
