LIVE @ THE FILLMORE
Get your Lucinda fillBy DARRYL STERDAN -- Winnipeg Sun
Lucinda Williams Live @ The Fillmore (Lost Highway/Universal) Can't get enough Lucinda Williams? This is your lucky month. The love child of Neil Young, Keith Richards, Townes Van Zandt and Hank Williams is putting out not one, but two, live releases. One is a live DVD of an Austin City Limits appearance from 1998 (which we're still waiting to see). The other is Live @ the Fillmore, a two-disc package recorded during a three-night stand in San Francisco in late 2003. Backed by her raggedly gritty trio and pulling no punches, Williams growls and drawls 22 slices of her raw-boned roots-rock. As expected, the 115-minute show is dominated by groovier, more upbeat recent fare like Atonement, Joy and Righteously, though she also makes room for dark old favourites like I Lost It and Pineola. Is it as essential as a new studio album? No. But it'll have to do until one comes along. And if you can't get enough Lucinda, it'll do nicely. Track Listing: Disc 1:
