PARIS HILTON

Artist: Boliska, Al

Al Boliska was a popular CHUM-AM radio personality. During their heyday, CHUM constantly promoted themselves through schemes like novelty records featuring their disc jockeys. Boliska released the third in a long line of CHUM DJ charting singles called "The Ballad Of A Dying Cowboy" with The Rhythm Pals as his backing band. The song spent 5 weeks on the CHUM charts (and those of affiliated stations) and reached #18 in March 1960.

In the very early 1960's CBC asked him to host a weekly local tv show in Toronto (CBLT) called "On The Scene". The program utilized the then new medium of video tape, traveling to various locations around town from The Royal Winter Fair to a hootenanny at Maple Leaf Gardens. Boliska gradually adapted for TV and became one of the show's likable main hosts.
