John Allan was born in Glencoe Station, Inverness County, Cape Breton. Cape Breton artists like the Rankin Family, Ashley Maclsaac, the Barra MacNeils and Natalie MacMaster have brought Celtic music to brand new audiences around the world. Fans are loving it, thriving on it and buying it. And as these young musicians discover their Celtic roots, what they all find is that John Allan Cameron is their roots. He was playing pipe tunes on the 12 string guitar in the 1960's. He was a lone voice for the Celtic tradition, touring the country and on his own television show. John Allan Cameron became a household name in Canada. Today, 10 albums and 27 years later, he is not only their roots, he is also their peer.
