Arguably one of the first all-girl punk bands to emerge in North America. Toronto's The Curse debuted as an opening act for the legendary Viletones in 1977.
Controversy soon became the norm especially on the heels of 1978's 7" single release "Shoeshine Boy" which recounted, in song, the freshly sensationalized homosexual murder of 11 year-old shoeshine boy Emmanual Jacques.
The media soon took sides on whether to dislike their distasteful behaviour (which included a record release party featuring a bathtub full of alcohol containing tampons) or hail them as innovators.
