The Cybertarist(Cyber-Guitar-Artist) is Paul E. Royes who recorded and toured from 1998 until 2008 as an ambient solo guitarist.
Custom guitars designed and built by legendary guitar-maker Paul Stephen Echols are combined with digital music effects technology creating soothing musical landscapes.
In 2000 a scientific medical study was conducted using music from Royes' 'Dolphin Sky' release. The findings concluded that chronically ill patients experienced an increase in healing energies. "Dolphin Sky" was selected as a theme song for the Johnnie To action crime drama film 'Exiled' (Fong Juk). The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to a full house in 2006.
The Cybertarist performed many concerts and was associated with THE AMBiENT PiNG: a social sound/art event presenting live performances by Toronto's finest ambient, chillout, improv and experimental music artists plus performers from across
the continent.
Royes has a long history in the Canadian music industry, formerly with The Spotted Wolverines Blues Band, The Ampstanders, CBS recording artists Hellfield, Dodger, Hazelwand, and Freeway. Royes currently records and performs with One Earth Spirit (Folk/Rock) and with The Jameels (Jam band).
A Cybertarist 'best of' is in the works.
