Originally a member of Butler in the early 1980's, Fredette has been a fixture in the Kim Mitchell band since the break-up of Max Webster, and has performed on every KM album from the debut solo EP in 1982 to the Greatest Hits package in 1995. Instrumentally, Fredette has played rhythm guitar and keyboards for the first few years, then switching over permanently to bass for the Shakin' Like a Human Being tour in 1988. During the Rockland tour in 1989, he also did a turn on drums during "Battlescar" and the famous "Three Drummers" opening.

His other credits include live performances with Pat Travers, Larkspur, Charlie Major, Colin James and Gowan. Fredette has also recorded with Coney Hatch, Platinum Blonde, and Andy Curran, as well as playing bass on Ian Thomas's 1984 album "Riders on Dark Horses". Fredette's show-stopping vocal turn in the chorus of "All We Are" continues to be a highlight of Kim Mitchell shows. He also participated in the Max Webster reunion tour of 1996, filling in on bass for Mike Tilka and Dave Myles, and contributing harmonies on an acoustic rendition of "On the Road".

Kim's touring bassist for Aural Fixation and the subsequent tour was Rob Laidlaw because Peter Fredette was touring with Tom Cochrane.
