The Gilmore Singers was a school project for James Gilmore School teacher Robert Waugh. The Richmond, BC teacher decided to write a song for Canada's centennial in 1967 and when a recording of 39 children from the school's choir doing "The Answer Rests Upon You" aired locally, Rada Records decided to release the song as a single nationally in 1971.
