Halifax four-piece Jellyfishbabies released an independent, self-titled, album in 1986 and three days after its released the album went to #1 on radio station CKDU-FM. With sights set on bigger things they decided to make the move to Toronto in 1987 and lost drummer Colleen Britton in the transition.

Belitsky (ex-Lone Stars) was added and they became the resident house band at the Flamingo Club. Belitsky also played in JALE in the '90s.
