PARIS HILTON

Artist: Lost And Profound

Lisa Boudreau (vocals)
Terry Tompkins (guitar, vocals)
Bartok Guitarsplat (guitar)
Curtis Driedger (guitar; replaced Guitarsplat)
Allen Baekeland
David Quinton-Steinberg (drums)
Anton Evans (bass)
Vic D'Arsie (keyboards)

Boudreau, originally from Moncton, New Brunswick relocated to Calgary with her occasional band The Nerves. Tompkins was originally from Hamilton and waded through a number of bands, including The False Idols, before heading to Calgary as well.

Out of the seething Calgary underground avant-garde music scene came Boudreau (ex-The Left Book Club), Tompkins (ex-The Now Feeling) and Baekeland (ex-The Now Feeling) as The Psychedelic Folk Virgins who relocated to Toronto looking for better coffee-houses. With the addition of Bartok Guitarsplat they released 'The Bottled Romance Of Nowhere.'

When Guitarsplat left for a solo career, they hooked up with ex-CeeDees Curtis Driedger to release another independent cassette. A tune from it wound up on the 'Moose Compilation' distributed by Polygram. When A & R reps asked if they had anything else, they handed over a finished master of their first album.

Both Baekeland and Driedger left before their self-titled debut took radio by surprise with the first single/video, "Brand New Set Of Lies", and landing on The Record's Top 20 while also seeing substantial rotation on MuchMusic. The second single was "Curb The Angels" followed by "Winter Raging". They received a Juno nomination in 1993.

Richard Bennett (Emmylou Harris, Partridge Family) produced their follow-up, 'Memory Thief', having mixed the first album previously. The album's highlight was the remake of Nancy Sinatra's 1968 classic "Some Velvet Morning" featuring a 17-piece orchestra.

'Love's Secret Messenger' came in 1996 and failed to achieve anything but moderate interest.

Tompkin and Boudreau folded the band shortly thereafter but re-emerged in 2002 under the new name Red Suede Red.
