Artist: Love And Sas

Lovena Fox (vocals)
Saskia Garel (vocals)

Lovena 'Love' Fox was the lead singer for various funk and R & B bands and worked on Vancouver stages including over 1000 performances as part of the cast of 'Ain't Misbehavin' and did backing vocals with the likes of Bon Jovi (1988's 'New Jersey'), The Payolas, Little Ceasar and Colin James.

Saskia 'Sas' Garel was born in Kingston, Jamaica, of Chinese, Spanish and West Indian descent. She moved to Toronto when she was 6 years old. She graduated the Claude Watson School of the Arts, The Royal Conservatory of Music and York University studying jazz and classical voice which won her the Oscar Peterson Award for high artistic standards. She later became the singer for reggae band Coconut Groove.

Discovered and creatively designed by BMG guru David Bendeth, these R & B singers became Canada's answer to Salt 'N' Pepa over the course of several singles and an album, 'Call My Name', in 1992. The album won a Juno for 'Best R & B Recording'.

A second album, 'Once In A Lifetime', followed with an additional Juno added to the duo's career. However, despite successful tours in Canada, the US and the UK, by the summer of 1993, Love & Sas split up citing creative differences.

Sas continued her management deal with Ivan Berry and has been working on a solo album ever since. She was on the Raptors' dance team in 1995 and recorded their theme song, "Higher", in 1996. She has appeared in commercials, television shows (Street Legal and Newsroom) and films (Mistrial, Teammates and Woo). In 1998 he had a semi-regular appearance on the cable TV show 'Nightman'. She is currently a member of the Canadian cast for the musical "RENT" as the character 'Mimi Marquez'. She still lives in her home of Agincourt, Ontario.

Lovena Fox returned to Vancouver and eventually landed a part in the Canadian stage production of "Ragtime" as the character 'Sarah'. That role landed her in both the Chicago Ensemble as well an appearance on the 1996 Broadway cast recording for RCA.
