Edmonton's Belinda Metz made noise around the College circuit in the early '80's with her brand of aggressive power pop. In 1982 she signed with Quantum Records in Toronto who released her debut album,
'The Minx'. Metz promoted it vigorously by touring.
In 1985 Craven A, the cigarette company, sponsored 'Talent Quest '85' which they hoped would lead to young music entities popular with an 18-24 year-old youth demographic they could underwrite tours for with their cigarette advertising. Two acts were discovered that eventually wound up with record deals -- Cats Can Fly (on CBS Records) and Belinda Metz with Attic Records.
Metz returned to the studio in 1985 with collaborator/writer/guitarist Bob Bartolucci and producer David Tyson. The result was 1985's 'Electric Splash' which sported the hit single "What About Me" and gained Metz a nomination for 'Most Promising Female Vocal' at the 1985 CFNY-FM U-Know Awards. She was also nominated for a Juno Award.
Not long after her promising career got off to a great start she was in a near fatal car accident. After a year of physio-therapy she returned to music.
Metz is best known in recent years as a voice over talent and on-screen in television:

'Tomorrow's A Killer', 'The Right Connections', 'The Suspect', 'Going The Distance' and most recently
'Eight Below' with Paul Walker and Bruce Greenwood.
