Ottawa's Watson and Reynolds were opera singers at the National Arts Centre met Bowen and decided to form Mirth. The folk trio recorded their 1977 'First Borne' album at Grant Avenue which was produced by Bowen and engineered by Bob Lanois. Guest musicians included John Blume, Bob Doidge, Garnet Rogers, and Matt Zimbel (Manteca).
