A native of New Brunswick, Denise Murray first appeared on the Canadian Country Music Awards in 1989. Since then she has been honing her skills by splitting her time between songwriting and singing, most notably as a member of the house band at McSweeney's, Moncton's largest country bar.
While competing in the Maritime Broadcasting 'Startracks' competition, Murray won both Best Artist and Best Song, becoming the first person to have that honour. On the strength of the single "What's It Gonna Take", Murray received a recording contract, which culminated in the production of her debut album 'What You Mean To Me'.
