Led by notorious Toronto punk Steven "Nazi Dog" Leckie, The Viletones became internationally recognized as possible aggressor/successors to The Sex Pistols.

Following the replacement of Jack Tasse by Chris Hate, Tasse was later 'killed' in a media story during one of Steven Leckie's continual revisions of the band's history. The Viletones initially released only one single and an EP during their initial run of notoriety.

Their first full-length album, 'Saturday Night, Sunday Morning', resulted from a reunion show in 1983 at Larry's Hideaway in Toronto; the liner notes were written by veteran rock journalist Peter Goddard.

A revival in the 1990's saw the band's catalogue re-issued on Other People's Music and a new mixed CD of studio and live recordings called 'What It Feels Like To Kill' was released in 1996 on Leckie's own Fleur de Mal label.
